    According to the latest information on the IRCC(Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada) official website, Canada'sCaregiver Pilot Programs started accepting new applications on January 1, 2023.These programs include the Home Child Care Provider Pilot (NOC 44100) and theHome Support Worker Pilot (NOC 44101). In 2023, a total of 5,500 applicationswill be accepted under these two pilot programs. Additionally, the applicationnumbers under these pilot programs have been divided into two categories: GainingExperience and Direct to Permanent Residence.


What is the Caregiver Immigration Pilot Program?

On February 23, 2019, the Canadian government announced thelaunch of a five-year caregiver immigration pilot program. These two pilotprograms are the Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker programs,aimed at providing care for families with children under 18 and elderly ordisabled individuals aged 65 and above. These programs allow eligiblecaregivers and their family members to come to Canada and become permanentresidents. To apply for these programs, applicants need to secure an opportunityto work in a Canadian household but are not required to obtain an LMIA (LabourMarket Impact Assessment). Once they have a job offer, eligible candidates canapply for a Canadian work permit and then apply for permanent residency afteracquiring 2 years of work experience.


Requirements for the Caregiver Immigration Program:

Job Offer: Applicants need to have a genuine andvalid job offer.

Job Position: Full-time employment with a minimum of30 hours of work per week. The employer must be a Canadian permanent residentor citizen, and the work must be in a province or territory outside of Quebec.Employers cannot be diplomatic or consular personnel.

Eligible Occupations: The program is divided into twospecific occupations: Home Child Care Provider (NOC 4411) and Home SupportWorker (NOC 4412).

Work Experience and Skills: While there is noexplicit requirement for overseas applicants to have prior work experience,relevant experience can be advantageous. Language Proficiency: A minimum of CLB5 level in English or French language proficiency is required.

Educational Background: At least one year ofpost-secondary education in Canada or an equivalent foreign credential, whichneeds to be assessed through an ECA (Educational Credential Assessment).


Advantages of the Caregiver Immigration Program:

·        Relatively low eligibility criteria with no workexperience requirement, and lower educational and language requirements.

·        High flexibility as applicants can arrive inCanada with a work permit in advance and can change employers.

·        Fewer requirements for employers, meaningemployers do not need to invest heavily in recruitment or prove the inabilityto hire locally.


Application Process for the Caregiver ImmigrationProgram:

1.      Choose either Home Child Care Provider or HomeSupport Worker occupation category to apply.

2.      Greelimes Team Submit both a work permit and permanentresidence application simultaneously.

3.      Upon approval, obtain a Canadian work permit andcome to Canada to start working.

4.      The work permit allows you to work in therelevant occupation and is not tied to a specific employer, allowingflexibility to change employers.

5.      Accumulate at least 24 months of work experiencewhile holding the work permit to meet the requirements for permanent residencyapplication.

6.      Prepare immigration application materials aftergaining sufficient work experience and submit them to the immigrationauthorities.

7.      Wait for immigration authority approval andreceive permanent residency.
